A Shot of Russia: Pope’s statue comes to Moscow

A new statue of Pope John Paul II has unveiled in Russia just before the weekend. Where? In the courtyard of the building - the Library for Foreign Literature - where my office is located.

The monument stands there with tens other statues like Gandi and Dickens donated by countries. They keep asking me: when are you going to present a statue of a famous Dutch person?

John Paul II loved Russia and wanted to come here, but he was not able to do it during his lifetime, according to the rector of Moscow Roman-Catholic Cathedral.

See below the pictures of the official unveiling - before and after.
